I have a Hitachi that I have used many times on my Mac OS x leopard. It shows that its getting power, but not mounting? *** I have 300 gigs I need to obtain? Any help out there ?

Test it on another computer. Aside from that, remove the HDD from the external case and attach it directly to the PC or use another external case. Possibly the case/controller has failed and the HDD is still usable.

And you should have a backup copy of anything important. Live and learn.
