have had this modem for years- hook-up from usb computer to usb modem. problem purchased belkin router for wireless. go to plug in ethernet wire to back of modem to router, then power to router. router sees the connection but a short time(blue light on router comes on). then the amber light comes on. any ideas. thank-you

Hello, try this below.

Unplug all devices from the modem. Power the modem down for about 30 sec, plug just the router WAN to the Ethernet port of the modem. See if it picks up a good signal. If it doesn't you might have to call your ISP to let them clear the MAC address. Say you want to use another "computer".
