Also at the moment i have 2x256mb ram would i notice a decrease in performance with 1x512 and 1x256 as dual channel wont work?

You will get a performance increase, but you won't have dual channel. Also, what do you want to know about the motherboard?

How comes only early bios versions allow the graphics to use 128mb but the newer versions only lets you use 64mb?
I don't know, the 3A18 and 3A27 allowed 128 MB of video RAM, but the 3A37 version I believe it was only supports 64 MB. I would recommend using the 3A27 version.
