So I am upgrading my motherboard butt, It wont load.... It will load to bios with no problems but when XP is trying to boot up it turns off. So I try to repair xp by by the disk in first and as setup XP is loading it turns off, I have already verified I have the correct PSU I have 400 while it only requires only 300 or 350 my my cd drive, hd drive all work fine as my old motherboard operates fine.... I don't think their is a problem with my mother board or cpu as it works fine in bios, any help is greatly appreciated.

At first I thought that could be it but after i consulted the owners manual it says that it only requires 300W, I have a Raid Max 400w (RX-400p). I havent been able to update the bios as it wont let me boot up.

Do you know what Bios is currently on the board you may need a bios update in order to use the Q8200.
If you are refering to the video card owners manual how would they account for the difference in power usage between a Celeron system and a Quad core system or if you had one drive or 4 drives, 1 stick of ram or 4 sticks they are giving you a minimum spec for a system that has nothing in it or plugged into the USB ports that recommendation IMHO is to get customers to spend more on a video card then they would if they thought they had to buy a larger psu. Your PC running a Quad with integrated video 3 usb devices, 2 sticks of ram, 1 DVD burner, 1 hard drive and a couple of fans would take about 430w figuring in capacitor aging, and a 20% overhead and I usually use a 30% overhead to keep the supply cool so add another 75w for the video card and your over 500w next higest is 550w.
Then their is the quality issue and Raid Max is not a Quality unit.

I got my psu in the mail yesterday hooked it up, my cpu was running extraordinarily hot 71 c. but found out my heat skin was mounted properly now i seem to have a problem with my optical drive. It is connected Bios recognize it and so does XP but when I put in a disc it freezes and becomes unresponsive. I remember a similar problem when i first installed the optical drive on my old pc but don’t remember how I fixed it, I have updated the drives firmware, when I select the optical drive in my computer and click eject the tray does come out. the only problem i can think it is that my mobo bios needs to be updated but I don’t think that would have anything to do with the optical drive. My optical drive id a DVRW/CD-RW combo the Pioneer DVR-710

Is the dvd drive a SATA or IDE? If it's an IDE drive do you have it on a data cable by itself or with another drive and do have the jumpers set to slave if it's hooked on the middle of the cable or master if it's by itself on the end.
Case fans should blow in if on the front of the case and blow out on the back.

Did you get the CPU temp fixed?
