Going to build a Media type computer around an AMD Athlon 64 CPU.ATX form will be used. Had selected an ASUS MB based on recommendations of a couple local persons but m after comments below in "OTHER" I think I'd better do some more looking.. Expect to pay apptox 125 -200 bucks for a good reliable MB . Looking for recommendations ( brann and part no.). Want at least 3 PCI slots and 2 express 16 slots. Only going to use 1 graphic card now but may expand to 2 later on. RAID, fan control, SLI , up to 4 GB memory are some of the functions I.d like to have on the board. One of the cases I'm looking at has 4 fans. Will be using a 500-600 watt PS so as not to overload it and allow room for expansion. Appreciate any help you guys can give. Thanks.

hi bill gisse,

first off when you are ready to make your purchase check out www.newegg.com for the hottest deals on computer parts.

since you are gonna build an amd 64 cpu, go with the nforce4 motherboards and socket 939 cpus. since you are gonna use it for multimedia apps i recommend going with the Amd X2 dual-core cpus, its good for multitasking and alot more.

antec makes great computer cases and power supplies and i really recommend them alot. for your system i recommend at least a 450watts power supply. other good brands of power supply include pc powercooling, enermax, and ocz. so far ive had experiences with antec and enermax and both have been really working good without any hiccups at all.

good nforce 4 motherboards to check out include:

MSI K8N Neo4-SLI
Asus A8N-SLI
Abit A8N-SLI
DFI lan-party SLI

if you plan to overclock the hell out of your system them i recommend getting the DFI motheroboards. performs good and i really hear that it overclocks really well.
