My friend's motherboard caught on fire a few days ago. The repair guy said that the usb pins were't pluged in the right order and that's what caused the fire. Nothing looks that damaged exept around the usb pins.

He said everything is good exept the motherboard and the memory. He didn't tell me why the memory is bad, just "You're going to need new ram also." I know that most repair guys will try to rip people off, like some car mechanics do.

My question is, if the memory sticks aren't burned, do they still work? I couldn't test this on any other computer because I'm afraid that something might be wrong with them.

I just dont want to spend 80 on new memory, when it might turn out that my old memory was good all along.
