More Ram Problems

2962 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Jason
Ok this is the story, (novice here) I had a pc with 64mb but I got another 128 mb of ram put in. The first attempt failed by the guy apparently I had a apprentice I went back to the store and they told me they had fixed it.

I'm trying to download Deer Hunter for my son it uses 128mb of ram minimum...well it comes up with a phoenix thing and at the end of it says
Error 0232 extended Ram failed at offset: 1A

If anyone can tell me what this mean's in layman's terms I would really appreciate it. If I can fix it myself great, if not, what do I tell the technician? I live 100km from the place I had this done and this simple thing of putting RAM in is becoming very expensive.

Thanks OzBeachGirl :)

Thanks

I'd first like to thank u for answering my questions. I'm a bookkeeper by trade not a puter technican although I know a lil.

I posted a new thread, yes i'm still having problems...apparently some kid put in the RAM at the store which I voiced my disapproval of and didn't test it.

Now I'm having more problems as my thread will show u. Any help would really be appreciated. I'm kinda in the dark here.

Thanks
Oz
hello OzBeachGirl, hows it going ?
can you give us more info about your setup ? maybe motherboard type, HD type/size.. so far only thing I see is that you have xp... is this the same machine you're trying to install it on ? Some systems are really picky about the memory type they take in...try taking the sticks out and switching the slots you have them in...

IMO, when it comes to memory, I always get it from the well known mfg, mainly crucial.com even if its for my "beater" computer. Saves you a lot of headache.
In windows right click on the my computer icon and left click on properties. What does it show there for system memory?
