More problems with installing Java 64-bit

I know I posted a couple months ago on this and tried the solution again this morning; however, I'm still not getting the 64-bit version. I'm running windows 7 home premium and went back to my post from January when Java wouldn't update when it said it needed updating. I could download the 32 bit but not the 64 bit Java.
Also, even though both times I've uninstalled Java totally before loading when it comes to the auto updates or any updates it just won't update. Any suggestions?

Hi try installing it from here Which version of Java should I download for my Windows 64-bit operating system?

Thanks - it says I have the correct version but I only have according to control panel Java (TM) 6 update 24 there is no longer a Java that says 64-bit.
