A friend of a friend needs to set up a cheap computer to run an electronic lathe. He asked a question I've never encountered before and can't seem to Google up any specific information, so I thought I'd try asking here to see if anyone knows anything about it.
The system will be sitting out in his shop, which is unheated a majority of the time. As we're located in the midwest, it will often get well below freezing. What kind of effect would this have on a monitor? For what he's needing, an old CRT will work fine. Would a CRT monitor fair better or worse than an LCD in freezing temperatures? I was going to suggest just wrapping an old CRT in a couple of blankets to insulate it when it's not in use. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
