I was using a AMW912WDB 19" wide screen monitor with my IBM thinkpad in doc station and using extended desktop option. I had problem with screen sometimes going wider than the 1440 x 900 setting for the main screen which is widescreen monitor. Was trying to adjust when laptop rebooted itself and AMW monitor stopped working. Can still use laptop monitor and have attached an Emprex widescreen monitor and it works. At one point after getting Emprex working, switched back to AMW and it worked, only until I tried to change display settings again back to 1440 x 900 and it again took error and laptop rebooted. Can't get it back now. How do I reset the monitor/BIOS/whatever to get it going again?

I have attached diagnostic report from Intel graphics accelerator which gives most details about op sys, monitor and laptop.

your message is very confusing. are you still able to use your laptop without any external monitors? If not, are you able to get into safemode?

right click desktop, click on properties, click on settings, does it show both monitors? If so, try resetting your external monitor to the same setting as the laptop - Change both screen resolution and screen refresh rate.

When I go to the Display Settings/Properties, it does not recognize the external AMW monitor. The built in laptop screen still works fine.

To troubleshoot, I attached a different external monitor, an Emprex. It recognizes the Emprex and display works fine. But if I try to switch back to the AMW, it won't work.

One of the first times I switched back to the AMW from the Emprex, the AMW started working again, meaning the display came on. Then when I tried to switch the AMW from 1024 x 768 to 1440 x 900, laptop showed what looked like the old 'blue screen of death' and rebooted immediately. Same error that started trouble the first time.

I have tried powering everything down and back up.

I tried going to control panel/system properties/hardware tab and entered device manager - and uninstalled all instances of 'plug and play monitor' under the 'monitor' folder. Then rebooted. Then re-attached the AMW and it still did not recognize the external monitor. Switched to the Emprex and it recognized it right away and am using it now.

My guess is something is wrong with driver for the AMW - or that it somehow needs it's internal firmware reset? Or something else?

I just don't think the AMW is actually dead, yet it certainly behaves that way.
