Hello everyone. I hope someone can find a fix for this annoying problem.
I have a Viewsonic VA1703wb monitor, which has a native resolution of 1440x900.
The resolution worked great until about three days ago. Allegedly my daughter played one of her kiddie's games in my PC, which she usually does. After playing, the resolution was set to 1280x768, which is inadequate for this monitor.
A copuple of Windows XP updates were installed around the same time, but they were related to other issues, not the video card or monitor
Anyway, I have downloaded and reinstalled the drivers for both the monitor and the Intel 82865G graphics controller - to no avail.
The program PowerStrip has been particularly unhelpful. It won't let me apply the preconfigured 1440x900 resolution that it shows without checking first if my devices support it...
Please help me, I don't know what else to try to get the computer to use the right resolution again and it looks plain awful ...
