I am brand new to this forum, so if this is posted in the wrong place, I would appreciate direction.
I have a Compaq Presario running Vista SP2 with an LG Flatron W2241T monitor. My display is set for 32 bit colour, and I would like to keep it at 1024 X 768. The problem is that everytime I set the resolution, it keeps resetting to 800 X 600 after a period of time, sometimes minutes later, sometimes hours.
I then have to go back in and change it again back to 1024 X 768 - not a huge, life-threatening issue, but a pain.
Can anybody help?

Hi and welcome to TSF make and model number please of your machine the resolution for the monitor is 1680 x 1050 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, now does your machine have onboard or a dedicated graphics card

Hi thanks for taking the time to help.
The computer is a Compaq Presario PC SR5718F.
Uner "Colour Managment" in the Control Panel it says, "Device:Generic PnP Monitor - Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
I Hope this is the information you need.

No not quite please look in control panel > device manager and under display adapters or possibly sound,video and game controllers click on the little arrow to expand the view and see what the graphics info there is. here is the manual see page 21 http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02488317.pdf you can skip the above steps

Thanks for your patience.
I have tried all the steps in the manual, and yes, it changes the resolution, but only temporarily - then it always just changes back.
The only information in control panel is Device:Generic PnP Monitor - Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family.
Sorry - I can't find any other information...
