Monitor problem

Hello,

I'm having a problem with my Belinea bt100005 monitor. Namely, once it enters Windows (XP), it shows a proper image for a moment, aside for half the screen being somewhat greyish, after which it goes black and says "monitor hardware error". I can turn it off and on again for the same result.
I'm guessing the monitor needs repair, but before I resort to that I was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences and sorted it some other way?
