I have two monitors that as you are using them they will sporadically go black and stay black for different lengths of time. I know this is a hardware issue and I need to replace them. If some one know a trick to fix this I would love to know but I know it is no a power managemnet problem becuase they stay on just the screen fades and while you are using it not just letting it sit there. Mainly does anyone know where I can get a really cheap 14 or 15 inch monitor.

It's strange that you have 2 monitors that are doing the same thing. How old are they and are they the same model? One suggestion is to look at the power consumption on the electrical circuit the monitors are connected to. If there are alot of other equipment on the same circuit, try moving the monitors to a different circuit.

The one monitor is quite old the other is about 2 years old and totally different brands and they have been hooked up to multiple computers and still having the same problem.

Have you tried slapping the side of the monitor? The 2 year old may still be under warranty. Most new monitors come with a 3 year warranty. I will keep an eye out for deals on 14 or 15 inch monitors. www.ubid.com may have some good prices but their shipping is outrageous, but you may get lucky.

Hi Der Robe,

For cheapo prices, www.liquidators.com but I have the feeling it's not the monitors, too coincidental that both are behaving the same way. Sounds like something happened to the both of them at the same time.
You might be wasting your money on buying new monitors until you investigate this a bit further. Let us know.

The older monitor has never been hooked up to the computer that the newer one fades
