Hi, guys:

I got a very stange problem with my computer. When I was working on my paper, suddenly I could not open up the internet. Then I reboot the computer. The monitor seems fine at the early stage of reboot and shows me that i got choices for safety mode, network safety mode,blabla...

After that I can clearly see the window Xp is rebooting. However, when it's close to finish, the monitor blacks out. I also tried with saftey mode and network safety. They all give me black screen.

I attached my monitor to my laptop, it works perfectly fine. So I guess the problem is my vedio card.

So what's wrong with the card, how can I get my files from my computer. Thanks a lot.

Hello lanthanide and welcome to Tech Support Forum

Does your desktop have onboard video? ie what type of graphics card are you using and can it be removed, then connecting the monitor to the onboard graphics alternative (changing the bios to suit)?

Post your specs and I will refine my questions.
