I ran across a older comp..it is Intel Desktop mobo..D815EEA2...It has been sitting up for 5/6 months...so that means the battery is dead??....and if the battery is dead then the Cmos has been lost???..I replaced the battery and it did not respond....The only thing that i can see in activity is the CDrom blinking on start...the light comes on the front(activity light??) The light is a solid color not blinking and after a few minutes it will go off.
If the Cmos is dead ..can i bring it back??

When it starts to boot, hit whatever key to go in to cmos. Choose use default settings if you have that option.
There is no way to bring back the lost settings.

Could be any number of things:

  • Dead motherboard.
  • Dead CPU.
  • No heatsink/fan on CPU or no thermal connectivity.
Unless you have a compelling reason for getting this machine to go then don't waste your time with it. It sounds like it's going to give you a lot of grief for very little return.
