Run Start>Run>chkdsk /r and schedule a repair on reboot. We had a problem about 4 days ago just like this and this is how it was fixed.
Missing Folder

Just a few days ago I was testing Avast data shredder by doing a DOD erase on the free space of my hard drive.My system is a Dell Dimension 2400 running windows home edition.I later discovered the "my videos" folder was missing.The folder is still present but "invisible" even though the show hidden files and folder option is selected in the folder options in the control panel.I used File scavenger which found the contents of the folder.It seems that the operating system GUI isn't seeing the folder.I'm wondering if this was caused by Avast data shredder and how do I correct it.

After that run Disk Defragmenter and see if that helps.
