MIssing .exe files

Are you saying that the .exe files are actually missing, as you can't see them? Or can you see them, but when you try to run them, an error comes up?

Do any programs work? IE, FF, Word, Excel, anything?

I can see the .exe files but when I run an app it states that 'The file has no program associated with it. Create an association in Folder Options in Control Panel'.

I tried this with WinRAR, but I got this error :Cannot import C:\....xp_exe_file.reg:Not all data was written successfully to the register. Some keys are open to the system or other processes.

am having problems with all .exe files missing. I cannot run any .exe applications, not even Norton AV. I cannot do a system restore or anything. Please help.
