My DVD drawer in my laptop will not open, nor does the little light go on when I push the button. I managed to open it with a paperclip pushed into the hole, but now I am discovering more of a problem trying to run a DVD. I opened my DVD player and I get an error message telling me that the 'specified driver cannot be located, to check my settings, or that perhaps the dvd is not properly connected to the PC. No error number. I looked at 'my computer', and do not see a dvd drive listed at all. So I tried to download the driver from my computer's company, and it said it downloaded the driver, but I am not seeing any difference at all. What do I do? I fear I have deleted something important in an attempt to clean up my computer. I am not very knowledgeable about computers...I am learning! So, if someone answers me, please answer with that in mind.

Thanks (very, very much!) in advance...

Thanks for the replies!

Makin: I have no idea what BIOS is or where to find it. Can you help me with that?

dai: I would suppose it is receiving power...I always keep my computer plugged in. Everything else works fine. 'Driver has had it'...means? Can it be placed?

i said drive not driver

had it means a new one

if the light is not flashing on the drive and the tray does not open it would indicate the drive is not getting power

don't confuse this with the laptop getting power
