Sorry, I didn't know if this needed to go here or in the sound card forum.
I just bought a used Alienware M766. I have a headset that I use for calls on skype, and it works on my desktop computer, but for some reason it doesn't work on this laptop. The microphone is VERY quiet, and when I turn mic boost on, it's back to normal, but there's an obnoxious buzzing noise in the background. Do you know how I can fix this? Is there any way to get my microphone to work without using boost?
By the way my sound card is a C Media (not sure exactly which type though).
