OKAY. I had a Sound Blaster Xfi Xtreme PCI-e card. it crapped out on me and I went and got another card SB xfi, but this one is a straight pci one.

Now beforehand, my gaming headset microphone worked fine. It was plenty loud enough for everyone to hear and the mic level was only at like 4 out of 10.

Now that I have this new card, I have all my levels cranked up in my control panel, my Ventrilo speech program that we use to talk to eachother and i even have my mic bent over about an inch from my mouth. you can BARELY hear my voice. I keep running a voice test and it plays my voice back. Nobody can hear me online. I've tried different pci slots and all my connections/dials.

All my drivers are updated, I even disabled my onboard audio. The thing is, when I tried my mic in the onboard audio, it is fine, but it has a crackling sound the whole time.

This is my 3rd sound card and i've tried everything. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

It seems as if that issue is a common one. It also seems like it is a driver issue. I know that beta drivers are out for the pci-e version that address this issue (although you weren't experiencing it), maybe new drivers will be out soon for the pci version.

Keep in mind that the X-Fi Extreme audio is a different (older) card than the rest of the X-Fi line-up.

I know that doesn't help much but I thought I would at least say something.
