Memory Stick Formatting?

977 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Zobian
My memory stick has been working fine for a while, just a cheap 2GB Play.com Pen drive. Recently I swapped OS from Vista Home Basic to XP Pro. I did a full format beforehand of the partition and now Ive plugged in the memory stick I get the message, "The disk in drive D is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" I then tell it to format and it says it cannot be formatted?

Ive also noticed that the DVD drive used to be D: and Flash drives used to be E: and theyve swapped round.

And help?

Have you tried formatting through Disk Management? (Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management->right click drive and format)

Thanks for the help. Well, the thing is I dont really WANT to format it. It wont let me open itwithout formatting? I click "no" and it does nothing?
The USB device has probably failed. Do you have any Yellow marks by any of the USB listings in Device manager?
