I am building an i7 860 desktop computer and was planning on buying the

BIOSTAR T5 XE motherboard

Under the specs for memory standard it says:
" DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600(OC)/1866(OC)/2000(OC) "

I'm not exactly sure what the "OC" (overclocked?) on the 1600/1866/200 affects.

Would this motherboard be compatible with ram such as:

Patriot G Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600

Thanks in advance!

you will need to check on the patriot website to see if that ram is compatible personally I wouldn't use that motherboard or that ram. The best motherboards are Asus and Gigabyte and patriot ram isn't that good.

OC stands for overclocked there is no need in buying that speed of ram unless you are going to overclock the cpu.

Same opinion as Team Mate greenbrucelee. Primarily because BioStar is not a good quality board and the better boards are more acceptable of different RAM brands.
