Help!

My Medai Player 10 suddenly won't play some files. It wont play some wmv, avi, and mpeg files. I reinstalled Media Player 10 and it still won't work. How do I fix it?

Thanks.

Where do I get codepack from?

This is the error I keep getting:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

I would stay away from .wmv files...they are too easily corrupted with what are basically virii/trojans...Micro$oft is aware of this, and is supposedly investigating the abuse of their DRM policy...

I suspect the mpeg files that won't play are SVCD files (mpeg2), for which you will need the svcd codec, and the .avis are typically not supported by WMP..they are prolly DivX and XviD codecs...

I've used Nimo's codec pac, latest and last release beta version, and have noticed no real problems...

for some real details about the video files, download a utitility called Gspot...it will analyze a video file and give you the specifics as to what codecs were used on it...

Nimo and Gspot are free downloads...do a www.google.com search for them...
