I have now had 3 of these fail under warranty... anyone know why or had similar problems. Latest failure not under warranty so is now just decorative junk !:1angel:

It may be the housing has failed and the Hdd is good?
Open the case and remove the drive, Connect the drive via a Hdd to USB adapter; The Apricorn is the best quality and comes with a version of Acronis

You can also slave the drive into a PC.

Unless you have a really good reason to use an external drive, there is no good reason to use an external drive LOL. They are much more susceptible to heat related failures than internal drives. If you must have portability, or it is on a laptop, then they are a viable option for storage, but not the best if they are going to be connected and used for long periods of time. Are these the 2.5 inch bus powered drives? or do they have separate power supply? What is the nature of the failure.. Do they still spin? Do they click? Is it just that you cannot get to the files?

My Mac wont see the drive.. it used to for a few weeks then just stopped seeing it so Time Machine failed to back up files to it etc etc
