The type of CPU doesn't really correlate to the maximum amount of usable RAM. That's more a function of the operating system.
The type of processor has no bearing on how much memory it will use. Every processor will use as much memory as the running applications demand, up to the amount installed.

so...if i have windows 7 32 bit...and a core 2 duo processor with 32 gb of ram...that processor will use that whole amount of ram....no amount of ram would go waste... isn't it...??
If you have a 32bit OS, you'll be limited to ~3.5 - 4GB of RAM. 64bit operating systems can use amounts larger than 4GB.
A 64Bit OS can see more RAM. There are no games and few apps that can utilize over 3GB (serious graphics & data work being the exceptions) of RAM. I know of no programs that can utilize anywhere near 32GB of RAM.

For rendering animations used in movies like toy story and avatar, one must be needing lots and lots of RAM. Otherwise it would take ages for rendering such high definition animations.
