I played many modern games, with most of them I passed the minimum system requirement and I can play them smoothly (20-40 fps).

But not all games are the same. Games like L.A Noire, GTA IV and The Witcher 2, are not really run well on my Laptop. Their performance are just unacceptable (Below 15 fps). These games should be able to run well or at least better than its current stat.

Is there anything I can do to improve these games performance? Because other games that I played, run smoothly on its lowest setting. These are some of them: Bioshock Infinite, FFXIII Lightning return, Max payne 3, Skyrim...

Game like GTA IV should be able to run really well, even on max setting because my PC passed its recommend requirement. But I still struggle to finish the game below 20 fps on lowest setting.

sorry I am not sure where you have read that you should be able to run GTA really well but you wont. At max you will be getting under 30fps with your system so this is correct. As for LA Noire try adjusting the graphics settings as that is also a demanding game. As for skyim it doesn't need that much of a great system to run well.

So I don't think you actually have a problem it is just your system and your settings.

Please consider reading my post again. I think you just skipped some of its part.

As I mentioned above, I always first play a game with lowest setting possible, Unless I can run it well, if that happens I will try to increase the setting a little bit further, If nothing change It will surely go to max setting. but those few games are just not response to graphic setting. they simply have bad performance like that when I first played them even on lowest setting. From my point of view, I think it's more on the game and its developers. Most people called it, A bad port. Those who made the game, simply just lazy to add new features and graphic setting as they forgot that they suppose to make a game for pc. Or maybe they're not paid well enough. I'm saying this, because I did some research and found some people having the same problem, Even if their card is High-end enough. However, it doesn't usually happens to most of pc users.

I think I just have to stick with games that run well on my PC and forget those that don't. I must really need a very fast Computer to play those games, but until then I'm not gonna play them.

is yours a laptop? if so then you do need more RAM and the gpu wont be upgradeable. If it's a desktop look at my system under my name I have no issues running those games even when I had a gtx670 I now have a gtx 970

Yes, I have a Laptop. It has a really low-end gpu (GT 520m).

I have 4GB RAM. Upgrade it doesn't help much if my GPU is that sucks. I don't think there's anything I can do about it. Just stick to those working games, while the other might have to wait for while till I can buy a new Computer. And I'm gonna buy a Laptop, since I'll travel a lot.

I'm looking at Alienware 15 or 17 with GTX 980m. do you think that computer is powerful enough to play any games? Or there're more powerful computers?

I don't want any of those 4k stuff. I just want to play a game smoothly with 720p or 1080p with acceptable graphic detail. That's all I want.

Thank you! I'll look into it.

Maybe Alienware products are more expensive because of its brand name and popularity. But the specs are all the same, while others might be more powerful and cheaper too.

Thank you again! I almost decided to buy Alienware.
