Mapped drive problems

Hi all,

I'm having a problem when I mapped a network drive to a computer using the server name, i.e. \\servername\public or map using the ip address, i.e. \\192.168.1.256, depending on which one I use to view the shared drive not all files are visible. For example, if I use the \\192.168.1.256, I can see all files. Using \\servername\public not all the files are displayed.

Can anyone suggest why this might be? Computer on the network range from windows xp to windows 7 and macs.

A couple of things that you may check:

--User permission from the public folder. There are 2 Tabs (Security & Sharing) that you need to verify that the User/Users have the same permission on both Tabs.

--That the User's computer is using the Internal DNS(your Server's DNS Address) and not External.
