I have just moved into a very wonderful studio type apartment. There is a great desk area to work in, nice spacious place to live...but there is no area in the main room to put the computers - I have 3 of them. I would like to put the computers just outside the door and put the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc in the desk area. It would also be nice to keep the heat and noise of the computers out of the living area. I know that KVM switches were designed to help with this but I do not think I could get permission from the landlord to drill such large holes in the adjoining wall. If the hole were about half an inch or so I could position the computers such that the hole would not be noticeable. The area I want to host the computers is only about six feet (2 meters) from the work area and 8 feet (2.7 meters) from the television which I often output my internet (video chat, etc) to. I could probably put the HTPC under the tv, and then use a program like synergy to share keyboard and mouse but that does not solve the video problem - the video cable/connector is the biggest one, and is the one that is causing the problem. Is there some way to manage this task - including the video - through a network type cable?
