I tried to run mbam, it would not go. The shortcut said the file did nto exist evwen though ti shows up in "program files (x86)"

I downloaded and installed a new one. (free)

What am I missing?

I have it on a win 7nmachine and it works fine.

If you are infected, MBAM will not run.
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes right click the MBAM.exe and Run As Administrator. If that doesn't work, restart and press F8 continuously. In the Advanced Boot Menu choose Safe Mode with Networking. Run MBAM from here.

This is an HP laptop with a multi function keyboard. F8 is also the volume control button, and that is all that works. I don't knwo how to toggle between functions.

I tried to go to msconfig from the start button, but that does not work. One try and that is disabled................

Start>Run msconfig>Diagnostic Startup. This will get you to where Spunk was leading you.

Thru msconfig I could set it to boot in safe mode, with network, but it would not do it. In safe mode it found three PUP'S, all related to spider solitaire.
The next time thru ti foudn another different one. All were quarantined.

Diagnostic start up did not get me anywhere.

I got into an "advanced startup" and chose to refresh the machine, a REALLY bad idea, as that removed all the software that had been downloaded.

I reinstalled what I needed and mbam is running normally.

Thanks for your time.
