Malware/ Spyware Problem

Hi,

I was getting lots of popups and ads on my computer even after having an updated antivirus software (bitdefender free edition v10). Along with this my yahoo mail and gmail pages never finish loading. Even the google search page also never finishes loading (it doesnt show any results, just the the bottom of firefoz browser it says "waiting for google.com). Recently I installed spyware doctor and it detected and removed few apywares (virtumonde, etc). Now though the popups have stopped, the non loading problem for gmail and yahoo mail still exists (and the google search too). The major reason behind my suspicion of a malware behind this is because earlier when I was getting the same problem I formatted my PC and it worked fine after that. But as soon as I copied the backup-ed data from an external HDD, the problem returned.
