Mac Hard Drive Clone

Hi I have a Mac iBook G4 14.1 inch version of the pre intel cpu. I am doing a hard drive upgrade. I bought an external enclosure and a new hard drive. I am trying to use CCC to incrementally clone the drive over. It keeps failing I am gettin some of the files over but not all of them. I need to know maybe what folders I need to copy over for it to be able to boot then I can bring the rest over or something I dont know what to do and why this is not going smooth. Please Help!!
