Hi,

Let's look at the floppy issue first. There are only three things that normally cause this error with a floppy:

Floppy cable not connected properly
(An easy mistake for new builders is having the floppy cable upside down, so turn it over and see if that helps. Make sure the red stripe is toward the power plug and that makes the red stripe facing different than the hard drive cables in many cases)

Bad floppy cable
(you tried this one)

Bad Floppy drive - I/O
(you tried this one)

Does the BIOS show the floppy drive?

Is it set to Auto in the Bios setup menu?

Try the ribbon change (upside down) and post back with the above info.

Hi,

Wow, this could be a tough one. Do you know how to clear the CMOS? If not, look in your manual and you can do it with the jumpers, or an easy way is to take out the motherboard battery for a few minutes and then return it to it's place and test drive it. (don't forget to unplug first)

If that does nothing for you, I would take this baby out of the case and build it piece by piece on a non-conductive surface beside the case.
Start with just the motherboard, the CPU/Heatsink/Fan plugged into the motherboard. Plug in your ATX connector, the square molex 12 volt plug in to the motherboard. Also, one stick of memory (check your manual to see which slot for only one stick), the Off/On switch and the case speaker...Does it stay running? If so, then add the video card and monitor....what happens there.....you get the picture...if it is fine, add something, but initially leave everything else unplugged including all drives, etc.

Post back with how far you get and what happens. TEll us if you get the post beep, if not, we need to know that, just all the details about what runs and what does not.

yes i finally got the floppy drive to work.
flashed CMOS with the latest
finally got windows installed on my 40 gig ide drive
now im having trouble getting it on my 160gig sata drive
it a 160 WD cavair
i keep getting BSOD
im wanting to phase out my ide drives
cuz this is obviousely a sata mobo
but every time i try to get windows to install on it ,it quits or i get random BSOD screens
Hi,

That is great news that you got it going. I was beginning to wonder about this one.

I do recommend that when you want to put the OS on a Sata drive that you unplug any and all IDE hard drives. You must of course have the Sata drivers to load at the F6 prompt when it asks for them. Did you do this step, because without those drivers, it will not load properly?

Post back and let's tackle this one after we find out that info.
