well... i gotta tell ya to get a new cpu

1.7ghz=128kb cache.
128kb cache= low processesing ability...

even a 256kb, its still gonna slow everything else down.
9600 is fine
768 is fine (1.5gb woulddnt help, and would cost more then a new cpu)
1.7 is fine, but the cache isnt good enough, so basicly you cannot get good fps.
if you have ddr and stuff, you can find or buy a new board and processor and keep the other parts.

if your really stuck with it, overclocking might help, but its iffy...

its not that expensive tho...

tho its only 256kb, you will notice a differece

TSF make sure that it fits his board, im not sure if it would work...

new cpu to try

i found the max new cpu will take is p4 2.00ghz 512 KB 400 mhz 478 for $90
{is the 512 KB refering to cache?}

is this much of an improvement on 1.7 p4 128 400 mgz ?
in regard to fps that is?

i have 768 ram and radeon 9600 pro

remember i'm just trying to get playable fps on CS source

thanks

ps just to get me by until i buy an athlon 64 FX !!!!
