I have a legitimate copy of Windows XP Pro purchased through an arrangement with my local community college at which I was a student. The problem is, I lost the license key.:embarased I DO NOT have a computer right now that is using this OS (I wiped it and loaded Linux).
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to "get" my license key legally?

Thanks in advance.

The only legal way to do it would be to contact the school and see if you can get it again. Since most academic licenses only allow you to have the OS while attending school, you may have a problem. There's really no way to get the license back without going to the entity that issued it to you, which of course you'd also have to get the installation media.

You can try contactnig the college bookstore and see if they keep records or microsoft if you legally registered it. Otherwise, there absolutely no other way.
