Hi!!

I am a newbie, so any help would be very much appreciated!

I have lost my XP CD and I need to format my hard drive, as I think I may have a virus, as I have tried playing 4 different games and they all start going glitchy a few minutes in, then crash my PC and I have to hit the reset button!!! The PC is custom built, so I am not sure how I can get a copy of the disk, however, I was told that I could take an image of my laptop XP and use this after I format the hard drive in place of the CD?!?! Is the correct, as I don't want to do it, then I am left with no PC!!!

The big thing is to find the reg key for your operating system.
Belarc, free download will have that info. There are other programs that
will help you find it. Do a google for reg key finder, or something like that.
If you are running xp home, find someone with a xp home disk and use
your cd key. Or if your running pro, do the same. The reg key will only
work for your os, you cant mix and match home, or pro, has to be the
right one...

If you want your XP product key on your current machine download http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ You will still need an XP CD to reinstall Windows.

If you can somehow prove you bought your copy of XP to Microsoft (simply by giving the product key perhaps), they might mail you a replacement CD for a small fee. The number is 1 (800) 360-7561 in the states. More numbers for Canada and elsewhere in here:
