After playing a game that did an automatic screen size adjustment, I lost my START bar, and can't seem to get it back, no matter what screen size I choose! CTL/ESCP only gives me the start box.

Hi, do you mean you lost your taskbar. The blue line that stored the applications windows. Try going right to the bottom, an arrow should appear and this should allow you to expand it back.
