So I've never done this before but after reading many positive articles about how much greater the benefits of building your own pc are, I decided I want to give it a try.

I am looking to build a gaming pc that can at LEAST play games like ,COD MW2 , Crysis , Half Life 2 , PES 2010 on everything, EVERYTHING maxed. And be able to keep up with the future games at least for another 2-3 years. How much would that run me? ( looking to spend.. up to a grand, but best would be 500-700)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hmm not bad, only 830?! wow.

But I think Id have to go with a Intel motherboard , and instead of Windows 7, could I still go with XP? I strongly prefer it, but if theres some disadavantages to that let me know. Thanks

Do you mean Intel CPU & Mobo? Yes, you can still use XP.

You can run today's games with everything maxed with the 775 build also. The E8400 is a top performer.

good to know. My knowledge on this is very very basic so I appreciate the help.

Youre saying I would be able to play Crysis for example with 16xQ CSAA? At... 1366 x 768 resolution, and everything maxed?
