Hi,

My name is Danny and I'm 20 years old, currently residing in the Netherlands. This seems like a very good place to ask for help concerning a question I have about my computer.
I'm trying to get my add/remove list as organized as possible so that there will only be programs in there that I recognise. I've been making good progress and have been deleting a lot of useless crap.

But now I've come across a pretty long list of programs from Microsoft. Some seem to be listed double, and some seem to have older versions listed.
Here's a screenshot of my add/remove list:

For most of these programs I've only been able to find very vague descriptions, and I don't know which I can keep and which I can remove.

Since these are all from Microsoft I suppose they're all safe but I would like to remove those that can be removed for the sake of simplicity.

'MSXML 4.0 SP2' for instance is listed 3 times. There is also one named 'MSXML 6.0 Parser', which seems to me like it would be a new version?

I hope someone can help me with this a little because I'm having a hard time figuring it out myself.

Thanks,
Danny.

For the most part these are not actually programs but things that provide services to other programs or are updates for these things. I don't know if you need them and I don't know of any simple way to find out for certain. Programs you use every day may require several of them. There are none on that list I would uninstall from my computer.

As for the "MSXML 4.0 SP2" items. Look at the numbers at the end of the name and you will note that they are all different.

It is of critical importance that you never delete or uninstall anything unless you know that you don't need it. Deleting things because you don't understand them is the wrong way to go. There are many files in my computer I don't understand the purpose of. So I leave them alone.
