It sounds like the pc was part of a Domain. If I remember right you have to have the pc as part of the Domain in order to change it to a workgroup and then you can also change the the local admin user password.
logon problems!!!
my father was given a computer i believe used to be apart of a network, and i'm having issues installing and accessing certain programs on the operating system. i'm constantly be prompt to give an administrator's username and password but the ones i've been given don't work. i keep receiving this error, "there are currently no logon servers available to service the logon." is there anyway to get around or fix this?
this computer has win vista and every other computer in the house has xp. i really don't want to reformat or upgrade.
