Lockup w/loud tone

Every now and then my computer completely freezes and a loud, high-pitched tone can be heard from my speakers. After manually resetting the computer, I discover no errors in the system event log.

For anyone who is wondering, I have an Audigy 2 ZS sound card, AMD 64 3200+ processor and 512MB RAM.

Any ideas as to what might be going wrong?
Btw, I checked my CPU temp and it seems to be around 40c.

40c sounds ok - have you tried removing and re-installing the audia drivers?
