hello all, first visit here. having a some computer problems that no one has been able to fix in the past few weeks. here is my system...

amd xp1800+ 1.533mhz
abit kg7 RAID mobo
512mb 2100 DDR micron
geforce ti2 64mb DDR vid card
win98se
400w atx amd approved power

ok, my computer locks up. its not very frequently but certain things make it go nuts. i can lock up doing anything but some things more than others. for instance, i can go into paint (comes with windows) and start drawing curved lines and lock my comp up within 5 minutes.

i lock up while playing video games online, playing games on yahoo.. using ms word. random stuff. paint is the only thing i know of that i can almost lock my comp up on demand.

i have done a lot to check for whats wrong. here is where i am at now...

-reformatted and clean install win98se with all mobo drivers and windows updates drivers done
-tried all video card drivers from past 9months
-switched out memory modules, tried 1 stick of 256mb alone, then the other, then together. same results in all situations
-temp seems fine. cpu is 45C and system 23C.
-pulled comp apart, cleaned everything and reassembled


so anyone have any ideas? im willing to try anything at this point

virtual memory.. have it set to let windows handle it.

drivers all up to date for everything

going to try a new vid card as well.. just gotta find one

not a heat problem, said that in original post.. temps are low
