Hi,

Bootlog.txt and it's backup, Bootlog.Prv are located in the Root directory of the Boot Drive usually C:\. I doubt finding it is going to help you much. Microsoft has a patch for the problem you have. Don't remember the exact name of the patch, but it shouldn't be hard to locate. Search for SHUTDOWN PATCH.

This is going to sound silly, but you don't say how old the computer is. If it's really old it will not have the ability to shutdown automatically. If it worked before then it is capable. Earlier AT machines don't. ATX machines do.
