Hi,

Can some one tell me how to change the name of my computer from localhost to a name I want to call it.

this varies from distro to the next but generally you can edit /etc/hostname to whatever you'd like your machines name to be.

If you don't want to have to reboot your Linux box to get the name changed, from the command line type: hostname <name>

But also make sure to change it in the startup files as gotisssues said or you would have to issue the hostname command on each reboot.

I've changed it under Network Properties, but I don't know exactly how right off hand.:upset:
