Hi all, I am having some problems with loadqm.exe, right now i have it turned off, and my computer seems to be working perfectly, but as soon as i turn it on under msconfig, it starts causing my computer to have problems, first it was having conflicts with msgsrv32.exe and i have found out that this is a very important application, i traced its problems back to msn messenger, and Internet Explorer, this lead me to the loadqm file that loads at startup, as soon as i turned loadqm off, my computer ran perfect, no more msgsrv32.exe failures, no more freezing, and currently it seems, better performance. What i want to know is can i have it turned off and have no problems with the explorer.exe shell and other conflicts???

Thanks,
- Josh

Yeah, disable it

Loadqm.exe is part of the QuickTime program, used for something or other, although I don't know what. I always disable it and haven't had any problems... BTW, what version of QuickTime are you running? Version 6.3 is out, you may consider upgrading...

uhh

i have posted on this before, but i will mention this again.

i am not sure if this is the only source for it, but loadqm.exe comes with msn messenger.

you do not need it

do a find, from the start bar, and search for loadqm.exe

you will find it in c:\windows\

rename it to loadqm1.exe or something other than what it is

if you delete it it might panic your pc.

you will never see loadqm start again if you rename it.

when i use msconfig to remove it, it adds itself again, so i odnt think you will have permanent luck there.

if you search www.dogpile.com for loadqm.exe you will come across some sites where alot of people are confused about the stupid thing.

but you can delete it, and reinstall msn messenger, and you will have it again. so i think it comes from them. some call it MSN's own bundled spyware.

yep

i have read that 4th link before...

thats all pretty accurate though, but MS still isnt telling the entire truth, as i know for a fact it eats resources on my machine, and lots of others i have removed it from...

the rename trick works, i swear it, and after trying to remove it with msconfig about 10 times, i renamed it based on a fix i found long ago in the days of duke nukem 3d....

if renaming it doesnt work for someone, i would like to hear about it...

loadqm

short for "Load QuagMire" ?

Programs today are a lot like homework ...

Every teacher assigns what they feel to be a fair amount with no regard to the OTHER teacher's assignments ...

Yeah, ive disabled it, but it probably won't be gone permanetly due to the fact it comes back on a lot. I will try the renaming trick and hopefully won't fubar my computer.

Thanks for the help,
Josh
