I understand there's a way to copy my Windows ME files from my CD straight onto my hard drive through DOS and then run setup that way.

Could someone walk me thru the process?

I'm having a tough time loading my OS the "normal way" running setup from a boot disk, etc.

I am a bit of a computer novice, but would be eternally grateful!!!

Ok, what you want to do is this:
  • When the meny comes up select boot with cd rom support
  • once your receive a dos prompt type in c: then hit enter
  • type md cabs
  • type cd cabs
  • type copy d:\win9x\*.* (d being the letter of your cd-rom)
  • You should be able to run setup from there to start the ME install proccess
