Guys...I've got a stumper on my hands. This adapter will not even acknowledge it's plugged into a Compaq Armada 7800 with Win98. I've updated drives and did a uninstall/reinstall. It also won't work with any PC Card network devices.
Any ideas?

Note that you may need to load the drivers before plugging the device in, I'd read the instructions carefully. If you reverse the procedure, sometimes an incorrect default XP driver gets loaded, then it won't recognize the proper drivers.

I'd start by flushing out any incorrect drivers and do a re-install.

Create a file with NOTEPAD containing the following lines and save it as FIX.REG
-------------------------- cut here --------------------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]

"DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES"="1"
-------------------------- cut here --------------------------------

Double click on FIX.REG and say yes to the Merge Into Registry question.

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices except any motherboard Ethernet under Network Controllers.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.
