I was working on my lenovo laptop 730 series, suddenly smoke comes out from near the folding hinge. I c then quickly disconnect the power cord and closed the lid. After a while when I tried to open the laptop, it is dead and no power indicator light. What might be the problem and a possible solution?

It's cooked. You could take it to a service center for an estimate of repair costs.

From all the bad write ups I've read about the Lenovo 730 series laptops, I'd say, if it's out of warranty, don't waste time paying for it to be repaired, but look for a replacement instead.

As everyone else has already said, repair costs for a "smoking" machine are never going to be cheap, so cut your losses, and look for something that's going to be more reliable.
