I've been connecting a four year old LCD monitor (HP w19b) to my laptop for the past couple of months as an external monitor (to temporarily replace the defunct LCD screen on my laptop). After using it for the first few days, it started turning on and off by itself at random (not flickering, but actually shutting down completely and turning on again). Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Things I've tried that have produced the same results:

- Plugging the monitor in different outlets
- Adjusting brightness/resolution
- Connecting to desktop PCs

Any help at all is appreciated!

If the problem persists using the monitor on different PC's I would say the monitor it's time to replace the 4 yr. old monitor.

Yeah it just does the same thing with my other computers. So I should just replace it completely instead of taking it in for a repair? I suppose this is my only choice since my monitor is pretty old. Thanks for the advice as always Tyree
