good morning,
i need to know what i need to do to get an operating system on a laptop that the cd rom is bad.
thanks for all the suggestions in advance.

Depends. If you are networked you could boot to a floppy "command prompt with network support" and copy the CD to the laptop's hard drive and setup from there. I think the easiest solution would be to replace the cdrom.
